It is the season for thanksgiving and celebration - thanksgiving to God for all of His blessings and celebrating Jesus coming to this earth as a baby.

Often at thanksgiving we give thanks for all the blessings we have received from God. The blessings of forgiveness, grace, love, mercy, the hope of eternal life, family, friends, church, school, work, health – though sometimes we have health issues, food, shelter or home,

clothes, shoes, car, store, and on and on it can go. I trust instead of complaining you give thanks.

Psalm 100:4 “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” I Corinthians 15:57 “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” II Corinthians 9:15 “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” I Thessalonians 5:18 “give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Christmas is a time for celebrating the coming of Jesus – God’s Son to this earth to accomplish for us salvation. Salvation from eternal death that we deserve because of sin. Luke 2:8-14 “And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

A savior has been born – Glory to God.

Thanks to God for His indescribable gift,

Pastor Manley Olsoe
